How to Fix Start Menu Button Not Working on Windows 10

A key component of Windows is the Start menu. While apps can be run straight from their folders, via desktop shortcuts, or even the Playbox, the Start menu is a much quicker way to do this. If nothing else existed, one of the primary reasons for Windows 8 being received was very bad. On Windows 10, the Start Menu has been enhanced, and minor modifications still need to be made, but it is also a function that tends to fall a lot. The Start Menu button that doesn’t operate on Windows 10 can be fixed here.

Fix Start Menu button not working

Check to open the Start menu by clicking with your mouse on the button. The “Win” button may not react to the keyboard but may open with the mouse when you press it. You also need to restart the scheme at least once to see if the issue is solved.
If not, carry out the following reforms.

Windows 10 1903 fix

This fix is particular to the 1903 edition of Windows 10. It’s not released on the fixed version channel yet, but you can attempt this fix if you run it on the release loop. In reality, before you do anything else, you must first attempt something.
Start Menu is now a distinct method that can be restarted just as Explorer.exe can be restarted. Search for Start, open the Task Manager and the Processes tab. Select it and at the bottom press the Restart button.

Remove third-party apps

Many Windows 10 users still don’t like the Start menu look and feel, which is why they tend to use apps to change it. For the most part, if the Start menu button stops working, these apps are stable and rarely break anything, but need to be removed.
In the same note, for instance, an application that resets keyboard keys, if you have any installed apps that change the way the keyboard operates, disable it.

Enable XAML

XAML is the language of contemporary Windows 10 apps and the Start menu is an XAML application requiring UAC access. UAC access is typically allowed by default, but you may have disabled it by error or may have solved the issue by allowing it again. You can do this from either PowerShell or a prompt for commands.

Get-AppxPackage -all * shellexperience * -package bundle percent { Add-AppxPackage -register -disabledevelopmentmode ($.installlocation + “\appxmetadata\appxbundlemanifest.xml”) } }

Command Prompt

Open and paste a fresh Notepad file into it. Save the file and run it using administrator rights with a CMD extension. You will change the registry of Windows to allow XAML.

REG ADD ‘ HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced’/V EnableXamlStartMenu / T REG DWORD / D 1/F

Taskkkill / f / in Explorer.exe Start explorer.exe

Delete Cortana files

If you don’t use Windows 10 1903, the Start, Search, and Courtana menus are still integrated with each other, so removing the files related to Cortana can solve the problem.
Open an administrator rights prompt and operate one by one of the following instructions.
CD / d “percent LOCALAPPDATA percent\ Packages\ Settings for Microsoft. Windows. Cortana cw5n1h2txyewy” Taskkill / F / IM SearchUI.exe RD / S / Q

Registry Fix

Open the Windows registry and navigate to the place below; HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ Double\ Services\ WpnUserService Here you will see a Start value. Set it to 4 by double-clicking it.
Go to the next place; HKEY CURRENT USER\ Software\ Windows\ Explorer\ Advanced.
A value called the EnableXamlStartMenu should be present here. If it is not available, right-click Advanced and pick and generate New Value > DWORD (32-bit). The default value must be set to 0.
Restart the scheme after the registry has been changed.

Disable sign in information

This solution is a bit hazy, but it worked with some customers. Open the Settings app and go to the Settings group of accounts. Select the tab Logon Options and disable the option “Use my login to set up my machine automatically and open apps after updating or restarting.” Reboot your system.

If all else fails

Run Windows 10 in safe mode and check whether the Start menu button is working or not. If not, your final action is to create a new user account and delete the account where the Start menu button will not work. It may not be the best solution, but it’s better than making a new installation of your operating system and installing your apps again.
