U.S. school shooting leaves one killed student, 7 wounded

DENVER–Two gun-armed male students burst into a science and technology school in Denver and opened fire on Tuesday, killing one classmate and wounding seven others, law enforcement officials said.

Radio Pakistan reported that several of the surviving victims of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) School in Highlands Ranch, a suburb of Denver, were initially listed in critical condition in local hospitals and in surgery, said Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock at a briefing.

According to the district, the school has 1,850 students enrolled on one campus, combining elementary, middle and high school.

Colorado’s gun violence came one week to the day after a 22-year-old gunman killed two people and wounded four more on the University of North Carolina’s Charlotte campus.
